FAQ
YeoFit & rec is a health and wellness program designed to energize, empower, and engage the Oberlin Community. YeoFit & rec consists of a variety of drop-in fitness classes as well as different wellness events and fitness challenges held throughout the year. In 2022, Yeofit & rec expanded to include other recreational programs on campus, including a variety of intramural leagues and pop-up reccreation events.
Who can take the classes?
All Oberlin students, faculty, and staff can take YeoFit classes free of charge. In addition, Oberlin community members with a membership, faculty and staff spouses with a valid ID, and paying guests may take classes for free as well. The only exception is that guests with day passes may only take spinning classes if there is room in the class.
Do I have to sign up for classes?
No! Classes are all first come, first serve. Spinning classes are limited to 16 riders while the other classes can accommodate 15-40 participants.
Will there be trans only hours?
No. It is the policy of the institution to affirm all gender identities. The wellness center will be open to all students, faculty, staff, and card holding community members during open hours.
Is the Philips Weight Room now Varsity only?
The weight room in Philips is still open and accessible to all members, students, faculty, and staff.
I want to come to a basketball game! Will the North entrance be open on gamedays?
The north doors of Philips will be open on game days for volleyball, basketball, swimming, and track.
I’m a faculty or staff member. How does my spouse get an ID?
In order for your spouse to get an ID you would have to goto HR and complete the necessary paperwork. It would be a good idea to take your marriage certificate or some type of proof of marriage. The cost for the spouse’s ID is only $10.
How do I purchase a membership? How much does it cost?
You can purchase a membership at the main desk just inside the Shanks H&W center entrance. You can also purchase the memberships online.The rates vary depending on a memberships. We offer single, family, senior, and business memberships. The lengths of the memberships vary from 3-months, 6-months, and one-year.
How do I get a locker?
You sign up for a locker at the equipment room in Philips Gym located by the West Gymnasium. The cost is $30 for the year.
How do you reserve a room in Shanks or Philips?
